Portfolio Project
During the month of November, I will be signing up for free demos of major customer relation management and project management software each week. My goal is to familiarize myself with these programs and show that I will be able to effectively use them at a BP by creating simulations which mimic how they would be used at a BP. At the end of the month, I will have a video and a written summary of each software which will be posted to my websites project page along with weekly blog posts to show my progress.
Week One, Trello
Trello is an amazing online program with a robust free version. By keeping your lists, ideas, and tasks on cards in an easily accessible location you can stay on top of your progress, or lack thereof. Cards can easily be given due dates and flagged for importance for your convenience as well as have individualized checklists.
Trello can be used by teams to keep track of ongoing projects. Cards can be assigned to single or multiple individuals, communication is convenient and easily located on each card. Each team member can view, edit and move their cards, but cannot view cards that haven’t been assigned to them. Admins can view all cards and make other members admins as well. Cards and boards can easily be subscribed to by members to receive updates via email.
Week Two, TextExpander
TextExpander is a downloadable software that allows you to easily create and save snippets of information which can be rendered using their specific abbreviation. This significantly decreases the amount of time you would need to spend at the computer replying to routine inquiries. This software can be effectively used virtually everywhere–and there’s no need to have the software open and running as it’s always ready in the background.
Week Three, Zendesk
Zendesk is a great customer relations software which allows you to keep all your customer inquiries in easily accessible and trackable tickets. With Zendesk you can pull tickets from your email, Facebook, Twitter, texts and phone calls all while never having to operate an app outside of Zendesk.
